Após registrar três meses consecutivos de alta, o volume de vendas do comércio varejista brasileiro teve queda de 0,4% em abril, na comparação com março. Os dados são da Pesquisa Mensal do Comércio (PMC), divulgada nesta quinta-feira (12) pelo Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE).
Apesar do recuo pontual, o setor mantém desempenho positivo em outras bases de comparação. Houve crescimento de 0,3% no trimestre encerrado em abril, 4,8% frente a abril de 2024, 2,1% no acumulado do ano e 3,4% nos últimos 12 meses.
O recuo nas vendas foi puxado por quatro dos oito grupos de atividade pesquisados:
Combustíveis e lubrificantes: -1,7%
Equipamentos e material para escritório, informática e comunicação: -1,3%
Hiper e supermercados, produtos alimentícios, bebidas e fumo: -0,8%
Móveis e eletrodomésticos: -0,3%
A queda nos supermercados, por exemplo, pode estar relacionada à inflação de alimentos e à perda do poder de compra das famílias, segundo analistas do IBGE.
Outras quatro atividades apresentaram crescimento no mês de abril:
Livros, jornais, revistas e papelaria: +1,6%
Outros artigos de uso pessoal e doméstico: +1%
Tecidos, vestuário e calçados: +0,6%
Artigos farmacêuticos, médicos, ortopédicos e de perfumaria: +0,2%
Esses segmentos podem ter sido beneficiados por datas promocionais e liquidações, além da recomposição de estoques.
Mesmo com a queda no volume de vendas, a receita nominal do varejo (valor total arrecadado) apresentou leve alta de 0,1% entre março e abril. Em outras comparações, os resultados foram mais expressivos:

O varejo ampliado, que inclui as vendas de veículos, motos, peças e materiais de construção, teve desempenho ainda mais negativo em abril: queda de 1,9% no volume de vendas frente a março.

Ainda assim, o setor teve alta de 0,8% em relação a abril de 2024, além de variações positivas no acumulado do ano (+1%) e dos últimos 12 meses (+2,7%).
A receita nominal do varejo ampliado caiu 1,4% na comparação com março, mas avançou 6,2% frente a abril do ano ado, 5,9% no ano e 7% em 12 meses.
Especialistas apontam que, apesar da queda pontual de abril, o varejo segue em trajetória de crescimento sustentado, embora com ritmo moderado. A desaceleração da inflação e a queda nos juros podem contribuir para melhorar o ambiente de consumo nos próximos meses, especialmente em segmentos de maior valor agregado, como móveis, eletrodomésticos e veículos.
